Kite-flying is a popular game .It's commonly flown just after the rainy season. It's very popular among boys and young men.Kite is made of color coated papers and sticks.Two sticks are stuck to the paper .One stick is straight and two opposite corners. Another stick which is cured is placed over it; it joins the other two corners. A triangular piece of thread is tied to the stick just below the two ends. This thread is tied to a long thread wound on a reel.
The flier holds the reel with his hands.Another person catches the kite and goes to distance. He throws the kite up, and the flier pulls the thread. Then the kite rises up, and the flier loosens the thread. The kite rises higher and higher as the flier loosens more thread.
kite-flying is an interesting game. We love to see the kite flying up in the sky. It is a healthy game. As the Kite is flown in the open air, the flier gets fresh air. He has to keep  a careful watch on his kite. He develops the power of concentration of mind. Kite-matches are very delightful. One person tries to cut  the thread of another person. The thread is sharpened with a paste of flour and powdered glass.
Kite-flying is also harmful. It damages the health of the flier if he flies the kite in the hot sun. It harms his eye-sight too. Sometimes , the flier falls down and gets injured. It is dangerous to fly kites on the roofs of the houses. The Sharpened thread leaves cuts on the hands of those who try to seize the falling kite and thread. Kite-flying requires great care.
Kite-flying is very popular in Nepal,China.In Nepal Kites are made in square type but in China they have different in shapes like dragons and many more.


 

News-newspaper

Every morning ,we see people reading newspaper. We all like to see the news of the day.The newspaper gives us news. Every educated person likes to read a newspaper daily. These days we have lot of daily newspapers in our country like Gorkhapatra, Kantipur, Himalayan Times, Annapurna Post, Rising Nepal e.t.c.
Newspaper gives us news. It gives us news of our country as well as of other countries. It publishes the latest news . By reading a newspaper, we can know what is happening in different parts of the world. Besides news. it publishes articles, editorials, letters, pictures, cartoons, etc. It offers a variety of reading matter.
There are different kinds of newspapers. We have daily, biweekly and weekly newspapers. Some newspapers contain fifteen to twenty pages, while others have only ten or twelve pages. Newspapers are published in different language. The newspapers of our country are published in Nepali, English, Newari, Bhojpuri and other language.
Newspapers give us knowledge. We learn many things from them. We can know the views of great men. We can know about the progress made in our country as well as in other countries. We can increase our general knowledge by reading newspapers.
Newspapers help the merchants. They can publish advertisements about their goods. People of different places know about their goods and buy them. Newspapers help the Government, too. The Government can know public opinion from them. The public can express their opinion through newspapers.
Some newspapers publish twisted news and misleading views. Such newspaper are harmful. We should read free and frank newspapers.

News- city life and village life

Every country has villages and towns. Some people like country life, and some town life. both town life and country life have advantages.
In a town, the roads are good, and there are good means of travelling. It is easy to go from one place to another. There are good schools and campuses. People can educate their children. There are hospitals and good doctors. People can have proper treatment when they are ill. There are cinemas, theatres, clubs. and other places of entertainment. Ina town, there are many markets and stores. We can buy anything we like. There are many firms and factories. Many people can find jobs in a town.
Town life has some disadvantages. In a town, the houses are close to one another. There is want of open space and fresh air. There are many people and vehicles. There is a lot of noise and disturbance. The peo0ple living in a town do not care one another. There is keen competition in every field. Life is a great struggle for the poor people. There are many bad people who commit crimes. We do not find fresh things in a town. Everything is dear and living is costly.
In a village, we find open space and fresh air. Things are fresh and cheap. The villagers know and help one another. Crimes are few and far between. Life in a village is simple and peaceful.
Village life also has some disadvantages. Ina a village, the roads are not good. There are few schools and hospitals. In a village, we do not find cinemas, theatres and clubs. We cannot buy many things. Life is simple and dull in a village. Village life has few comforts and amenities.

News-winter

Seasons are caused by the revolution of the earth round the sun. We have four seasons in a year. They are spring, winter, autumn and summer. In winter, we get the slanting rays of the sun. So this is a cold season.

The winter season in our country lasts from Mangsir to Magh. It is very cold in Poos. The mountain regions get very cold, but the plain regions are not so cold.

In winter, the nights are longer than the days. .we get plenty of time for sleep. The sun's rays are not so hot. It is pleasant to bask in the sun. We require plenty of sunshine in this season.
In winter, we do not have much rainfall. Sometimes, there is a little rainfall. This rainfall is very useful to winter crops. On the hills, there is snowfall.
In the morning, we often find dew on the ground. The sky is covered with fog. The sun rises late. It is very cold outside. It is difficult to go out for work. Water gets very cold. Sometimes, it is frozen. It is difficult to take a bath.
In winter, we get winter crops. We ger a lot of fruits and vegetables. People like to bask in the sun and eat citrus fruits.
In winter, we can digest our food and work hark. But the poor people find it difficult to go out for work. They cannot afford to buy warm clothes. The rich people can wear warm clothes. They can use heaters at home and in the office. The winter season is not comfortable for the poor. In day is short. We so not get much time for play.

news-holidays

We all like holidays.We become happy when we get holidays.We require rest after work.Holidays are meant for this purpose.Every Saturday is a holiday.We get holidays during festivals.
Holidays should be spent usefully.We may visit some interesting places.This gives us recreation.We may visit our relatives and friends and talk with them.We may play some games for pleasure.On long holidays,we may visit distant places.We get pleasure as well as knowledge by traveling.
We may enjoy some music on holidays.Some pass their time hearing film songs only.This is not good.We may visit the cinema if their good films.But we should not see bad pictures.We may pass our holidays in a useful pastimes like gardening,photography,stamp-collection or fishing.
Holidays should not be spent in idleness. Idleness not rest.We should do something which pleases our mind.Amusement refreshes both body and mind.It gives us extra vigour.It makes us able to work with more zeal and energy.

The word "cinema" is the short form of cinematograph .Cinematograph is a machine for showing moving pictures.These pictures ar4e shown on white screens.At first,the picture produced only movements but no sound.They were called "movies".Nowadays ,the picture produced also sound.They were called "talkies".
The moving pictures are taken by movie cameras on celluloid film.The taking of picture is called shooting.There are 2 kinds of shootings,indoor and outdoor.sometimes,pictures are4 of real objects taken.This is outdoor shooting.Generally,artificial objects represent real ones.This is indoor shooting.A studio is the place where films are prepared.There are 2 kinds of films,feature and documentary.Long films are called feature films,while short ones are called documentary.
The cinema is the medium of entertainment.Films show beautiful scenes and interesting stories.Our minds are amused when we see them.Many people visit the cinema for pleasure.The cinema is also the medium of education.We can learn many things from films.We can know the history and geography of a country,the habits and customs of the people,the lives of great men,the scenes of great events,the stories of famous novels and dramas.
The cinema has also a dark side.Some films are bad and leave a bad effect on our character.We learn bad things like smoking,drinking alcohol ,gambling,fighting,cheating,etc.Students should not see bad films.

We are not free in our activities.We are bound by some rules of conduct.We have to obey some rules at home,at school and on play-ground.Dicipline is the habit of acting according to the rules.
Discipline is necessary everywhere.At home we have yo obey our parents.They teach us what is good for us.If we disobey them,we cannot learn good things.Our character becomes bad,and we cannot be happy in life.
At school,discipline is very important .We should obey our teachers.If we do not obey them,we cannot learn our lessons well.The teachers should be disciplined.They should work according to rules.If there is no discipline at school,the students cannot have proper training.
Discipline is needed on the play-ground.Every player must obey the captain.If the players play as they  like, they cannot win the game.If there is no discipline among the players,it may lead to quarrel and fight.
In the army,there is strict discipline.The soldiers must obey their officers.If there is any breach of rules,the soldiers are punished.The officers are also disciplined.Everyone acts according to the rules.The discipline of the army is worth imitating by us.
Success in every field of activity depends on discipline. We should all learn this good habits.We should always obey our parents and teachers.They should teach us good things.They should keep us under discipline.Discipline should be a part of our education at school.

Some persons do their work themselves.They do not depend on others. This habit is called self-help. Those who work themselves are said to be self-reliant. Self-reliant persons are in the habit of working hard.They do not look to others for help . They work themselves and finish their work.

Self-help is the best help. It makes us active. We work hard and achieve success.We are not idle. We do not  wait for the help of others. We finish our work quickly. There is no loss of time. Self- reliant persons are bold. They are not afraid of dangers and difficulties.They face them boldly.They achieve success in their work and are happy in life.

Those who depend on other are always idle. They do not realize their own strength. They always look to others for help. Others do not readily come forward to help them . Others do not work sincerely for them  and the result is  failure. Those who depend on others are afraid of dangers and difficulties . They can't face obstacles.They have little courage and strength. They can't do anything great.They are unsuccessful and miserable in life.

The story of Hercules and the Carter shows the power of self-help.A carter had his cart stuck in the mud.He did not try to move the wheels but prayed to Hercules for help.The god appeared before him and advised him to put his shoulders to the wheel.The carter did so,and the wheels moved on.

We should all learn the habit of self-help.Self'-help makes us bold and strong. We can work hard and achieve success. It makes us happy in life.

We live in soceity. We require the help o f many person. We should try to be liked by other. It is good manners that make us popular . Good manners are very imjportant for uus. They  are a great help to success in life. They are the best possesion of man.
Good manners deffer form place to place, from society to society. we should learn the good manners of our society. Speakin g politely., respection superiors, loving \juniors, showing courtesy to visitors are some good mannes. Good manners are necessary in every activity and at every place. We should behaveproperly in speaking, standing, sitting, walking, playing and working. We should show good manners at every place to get things done .
We should learn good manners form our siniors like parents, teachers and freinds . We should mix with good mannered persons . We should not keep the companey of bad mannered persons we learn good mannners through the observations and association. We should observe how good-mannered persons behave with everything. Good manners should be learnt at an early age. Manners formed in childhood remain with us for life.
Companions have a great infulence upon our manners. We shoul always keep good company. \if we move with abd companions, our manners will be bad. \many children in  our society are found to have bad manners. \parentws an teachers should keep careful watch on children.It makes us do the things in the right way and make people to understand the things in the way we talk.

Time is very valuable. We should not lose time ?Time once lost is lost for ever. We should do everything in time. We should do work in time. The habit of doing things in time is called punctuality.
Punctuality is a great virtue. \it saves us from loss of time and inconvenience. \it helps us to do things easily. We learn to do everything in time. There is no accumulation of work. \it makes us active and hard-working . \it makes us successful in life. \punctual persons are trusted by everybody . They rise to high positions. They earn wealth and happiness.
\unpunctual persons cannot do things easily. They are idle.
They postpone work. At last they have to do a lot of work. They have to bear great hardships. They cause inconvenience to themselves and others. They are not trusted by anybody. they cannot be successful in life. They are disappointed an miserable.
The people of our country are not very particular about punctuality. they are always behind time. This is even true of our leaders. They do not keep their appointments in time. This courses great inconvenience to many persons. The people of advanced countries are always punctual. They do everything in time.
So, we should always learn to be punctual in every work .It makes us more hard labouring and efficient .It helps us to get the things done in time.
